Catch billfish and big game species, improve your skills, meet new friends and explore the destination: our six-day itinerary is all about creating a fun, immersive experience.
Anglers arrive for check-in. A welcome reception and dinner gives participants the opportunity to get to know each other before heading out on the water.
Fishing days start early: breakfast at 6 a.m., and departure from the marina at 7 a.m. Each day is unique as the anglers’ skills, weather, and bite factor into what happens on the water. But the overall goal remains constant: catch fish, learn, and have a great time. Boats are back at the marina at 4 p.m. so anglers have time to freshen up before dinner at 6:30 p.m., which often consists of the day’s catch.
Anglers put what they have learned to the test and compete in a mini fishing tournament. Bragging rights and trophies are on the line. The day concludes with dinner and the awards ceremony.
Breakfast starts at 7 a.m. Departure times vary, but we ensure there’s ample time for the return to San Jose for flights back home.
Costa Rica is indeed a billfishing paradise. With lots of shots and generally calm seas, the sailfish season runs from January through April, but anglers catch marlin and sailfish here every month of the year. When the conditions are right, the bite can be unreal: Many boats here have had days of more than 40 sailfish releases, with some topping 75 in a single day.
The most exhilarating fishing style is to pitch a ballyhoo to teased-up billfish right off the transom. We teach the most effective techniques to connect you with that coveted behind-the-boat bite.
