The Los Cabos Billfish Tournament occurs during one of the best times for marlin fishing in Cabo San Lucas. There are many ways to win, from boating the largest marlin or gaining the most billfish releases to weighing the largest tuna, wahoo and dorado. It’s a fun, participant-based rules format, with a gala awards dinner celebration at the beautiful Playa Grande Resort included in the entry.

Yes. A copy of all fishing licenses and the required paperwork must be emailed to the tournament committee at [email protected]. The deadline to receive licenses and required paperwork is October 8, 2025, by 8:00 PM. 

Required: 

  1. Vessel Registration Document (Certificate of Documentation) or Temporary Import Permit
  2. Vessel Insurance (Deck Sheet Cover Page)
  3. Captain’s License or Captain’s License Passport
  4. All Angler’s Fishing License Numbers Must be added to Catchstat

It is the responsibility of registered boat captains and anglers to comply with all Mexican Federal and State laws regarding fishing licenses, size limits, bag limits and any other regulations that may apply.

Blue and Black Marlin, Striped Marlin, Sailfish, Spearfish, Tuna, Wahoo, and Dorado (aka: Mahi-Mahi)

300 lbs for Blue and Black Marlin, and 20 lbs for Tuna, Wahoo, and Dorado.

Teams can use any combination of lures and live or dead baits they wish to use, although non-offset circle hooks are mandatory with any bait or bait/lure combinations.
