ITINERARY
Catch billfish and big game species, improve your skills, meet new friends and explore the destination: our six-day itinerary is all about creating a fun, immersive experience.
Anglers arrive at the Casa Vieja Lodge for check-in. A welcome reception and dinner gives participants the opportunity to get to know each other before heading out on the water.
Fishing days start early: breakfast at 6 a.m., and departure from the marina at 7 a.m. Each day is unique as the anglers’ skills, weather, and bite factor into what happens on the water. But the overall goal remains constant: catch fish, learn, and have a great time. Boats are back at the marina at 4 p.m. so anglers have time to freshen up before dinner at 6:30 p.m., which often consists of the day’s catch.
Anglers put what they have learned to the test and compete in a mini fishing tournament. Bragging rights and trophies are on the line. The day concludes with dinner and the awards ceremony.
Breakfast starts at 7 a.m. Departure times vary, but we ensure there’s ample time for the return to Guatemala City for flights back home.
FISHING OVERVIEW
We pair female anglers with the best female fishing professionals in the industry for the ultimate learning experience. Whether you’re looking to take your first-ever swing at a billfish or fine-tune your angling technique, these ladies are ready to help you gain the confidence to pitch even the angriest of billfish. Angling is all about technique, so if you can hold a fishing rod, you can catch anything. We show you how.
“These ladies all have a common goal to not only learn proper angling skills, but to also gain the confidence to hook, fight and release a billfish all on their own,” says lead instructor and Marlin senior editor Capt. Jen Copeland. “In their accomplishments, they will always remember the details, and as a teacher, to be part of that lifetime memory is the reward. I’m so proud of each and every one of them.”

ACCOMMODATIONS
Built more than two decades ago as one family’s private retreat, Casa Vieja Lodge is now a top-notch fishing resort that attracts anglers from around the world.
The entrance to Casa Vieja is along a busy port street, but once inside the gates, it’s an oasis. The grounds are tropically lush. It’s cozy and low-key, save for the resort’s centerpiece: a grand, three-story palapa known as the Rancho where anglers gather for micheladas (beer, tomato juice and hot sauce) after a day on the water, and dinner in the evenings. As for the fishing, top-flight captains and state-of-the-art equipment leave little to be desired when it comes to a first-class offshore experience.
The lodge is located less than a mile from the entrance of Marina Pez Vela, so after a day on the water, you can be poolside in five minutes.
